Port City of Shahhar
Last week, on RPG Bloggers, I came across a post by Dyson over at A character for every game about designing RPG cities. He was using City Works, a Legends and Lairs publication from Fantasy Flight Games. It was a sheer coincidence, however I was also working on a city for my New Dark Ages campaign. I also happened to be using City Works as well. It was interesting to read about the different design choices made, and using the same book, it would seem that the cities would be similar. Shahhar and Cruar's Cove are both medeival port cities, however, they have diverged considerably during development. I look forward to running a game set in Shahhar. Cruar's Cove is looking to be adopted as another port city for the New Dark Ages campaign as Dyson did a great job in crafting the background and history of that city.

Cultural Characteristics: Persian
Racial Stance: Completely intermixed. All sentient races are considered equal under the common Dragon law.
Technology: Renaissance (mid-14th century)
Government: Monarchy (The Dragon Kings)
Social Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (no central authority here)
Subsistence System: Banditry, Raiding, Trade
Population level: Average... small cities 40-80 miles apart, small patches of wilderness in between the cities.
Predominant Local Geography: Lightly forested tablelands interspersed with stream and river cut grass plains. Marsh and rice paddies with some sandy beaches along the coastal areas.
